Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2, 2026
Overview
Obscure is designed with privacy at its core. All photo processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's on-device machine learning frameworks. We never upload, transmit, or store your photos or any data derived from them.
Data Collection
We do not collect any personal data. Obscure does not require an account, does not use analytics SDKs, and does not include any third-party tracking or advertising frameworks.
Specifically, Obscure does not collect:
- Photos or images
- Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- Device identifiers
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Location data
- Crash reports (beyond what Apple collects through its own opt-in system)
On-Device Processing
All AI-powered features — including text detection, face detection, and image processing — run entirely on your device using Apple's Vision and Core ML frameworks. No data is sent to any external server, cloud service, or third party.
Photo Access
Obscure requests access to your photo library solely to allow you to select photos for redaction. Photos are processed locally and are never transmitted off your device. Redacted photos are saved back to your device or shared through the system share sheet as you direct.
Data Retention
Since we do not collect any data, there is no data to retain. All processing is ephemeral and occurs only in your device's memory during active use of the app.
Children's Privacy
Obscure is rated 4+ on the App Store and is safe for users of all ages. We do not collect personal information from any users, including children under 13.
Third-Party Services
Obscure does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or SDKs that collect user data. The app functions entirely offline.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
